1.    People come to work with good intentions.  The misunderstandings and conflicts that occur are most often based upon mismatched assumptions or simple ignorance and not malice. 

2.    Misunderstanding, conflicts, and incivilities are inevitable – and must be addressed. Everyone has a vested interest in this process.  The impact on people and the cost to business is substantial.   It is in everyone’s best interest to be equipped with the right tools for building understanding and strategies for resolving issues at the lowest level possible.

5.    Focus on actions and behaviors, not changing attitudes or beliefs.  Using the organization’s corporate policies and values as a foundation, training emphasizes behaviors that support and advance diversity and inclusion – with the clear understanding that we don’t have to agree to be respectful.  i.e. Training commitment and strategies are focused on support for inclusion and behaviors that are respectful, appropriate and effective.  And, that “To understand and behave respectfully does not imply agreement.”
